Flight, contact, recovery, and temporary balance.
A selective group of birds photographed in the unstable interval between one state and another: hovering and descent, water contact and lift, impact and return. The animal remains visible, but the central subject is how a living body negotiates air, water, and gravity.
Before contact, the body is held by wing, air, and intention.
The opening pair moves from hovering delicacy to broad descent and forward flight.
The surface becomes resistance, mirror, and point of exchange.
Water records contact immediately. Spray, reflection, and displaced surface make the force of entry and lift visible.
Contact becomes collision, acceleration, and release
These photographs are less about perfect flight than about the effort required to recover movement after the body meets resistance.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sudhendu Kashikar is a Houston-based fine-art photographer whose work examines duration, motion, reflection, and the changing legibility of place.
Working across water, landscape, city, structure, and machines, he uses long exposure, intentional camera movement, and restrained color to explore the point where recognizable subjects begin to shift toward abstraction.
